For as long as I can remember, I have been highly sensitive. As a very young child I had an uncanny awareness of time and a fascination with my connection to the Earth. As I grew older I realized that I knew whether I would like or dislike people I met before they said a word. I could feel who they were and, more importantly, who they were not.
I sensed early on that my family would not value or tolerate my intuitive gift, so for most of my life I kept it hidden deep within me, only allowing pieces of it to come forward in a very private way. Later, when Spirit found me and encouraged me to use my gift, I felt like I was wearing my true skin for the first time and had permission to be my authentic self. As I breathed Spirit’s light into my body, I felt I was returning to a previous, more real Self.
An empath does not operate in the realm of the intellect. For me, feelings are everything. More than sight or sound, feelings are how I experience and connect with everything in my world. When I am connected to Spirit, I experience information as feelings traveling through my heart and throughout my body. In my role as an intuitive empath, medium, psychic, or medical intuitive, my challenge is to translate these feelings into words for those who come to me seeking guidance and healing.
When I’m working with Spirit on others’ behalf, time melts away. I enter what I call my Purple Place, an expansive internal realm where messages come to me as vibratory sensations that I try to translate into words. It isn’t about me, and it doesn’t feel like work. I am merely guided to be whatever Spirit asks of me, opening myself as a vehicle and passing on what I receive.
Spirit supports my efforts as a Soul Shepherd. Spirit knows what each person needs and sends information through me that helps them understand pieces of themselves and their journey—if they are open to receiving the information. For a client with medical issues, I will “drop in” to their physical body and ask my spiritual guides for specific healing. More often, Spirit uses me to help people see things they may or may not already know. Sometimes just hearing a familiar truth in a different way opens up new meanings and insights. My role is to help people help themselves—to remove roadblocks they may once have created for self-protection, but that are now preventing them from moving forward.
People often ask why I call myself a “Soul Shepherd.” I tell them I didn’t choose that term, Spirit did, and I fell willingly into the “me” I always knew I was. My journey brought me to where I needed to be exactly when I needed it and could accept it. In the same way, you have to be ready for me—ready with an open heart and mind to receive the guidance, messages, admonition, reassurance, and love that Spirit sends through me to you.
